I tried to get a surround recording using mics, but there was a horrible street musician playing off in the distance. I thought it wouldn't be clear in the recording, but one of the mics picked him up quite well. The recording was ruined, so i did a little processing at home and came up with this freaky bit for your listening pleasure. Not sure if it's usable beyond listening, tho. . .

This recording was taken from the balcony of an apartment in johor bahru malaysia on september 30th 2022 at about 1:30pm. It was monsoon season but not raining and the weather was hazy and muggy. The recording features the drone of a busy city punctuated by a whippersnipper, a building site, birds, a light aeroplane and car horns. At around the 4:30 mark there's two loud motorcycles that race each other and echo around the city in a most glorious way. The recording was made with the inbuilt stereo microphones of a zoom h5 portable recorder.

A recording made in the shawnee national forest in illinois on the very first day of october, 2022. This recording was made at mid-afternoon and features the peaceful, pleasant wind through the deciduous trees. From time to time though, the soft call of a nuthatch or a chickadee reminds us there is still bird life in the early autumn woods. Recording of the tires of a flat bed trailer going over a gravel path. This was from a hayride where i was sitting in the back with a bunch of kids being pulled by the tractor. Recorder was just a couple of feet from the wheel so most of the kids noises and even the tractor engine get drowned out, but still somewhat audible in spots. There are two recordings, one taken from the side with the mic at the wheel and one with the mic under the trailer while recording. (this is the one with the recorder off to the side. ). The sound could also (maybe) be used to mimic a hailstorm. Recorded with a sony icd-px312.

This is the helvetia paddle steamer boat of cgn fleet. It was moored to be renovate and repaired. Little waves make the boat pitch and the big metal rope linking the boat to the quay is producing these nice metallic noises. 48khz schoeps.

Night time at an intersection in a residential part of tokyo. Normally the street is quite busy, but at 11 pm you can hear more discrete sounds, including people walking around. The only processing was trimming at mixdown of the 2 independent stereo tracks. Recorded with 4 mics.

Dry ice dumped in a small fountain and recorded with an r-09hr. The bubbles sound very frantic and are continuous. I couldn't get too close, or else the splashing would have entered the mic capsules. It is a very clear sound nonetheless.

As starlings migrate south for the winter, millions of them like to stop over parts of maryland and nestle in the trees. The sound of their chirping can be deafening. Someone decided to launch bottle rockets into the trees to scare them off. It doesn't sound like it worked does it? enjoy!.

From under a concrete bridge, the sound of cars driving at a fairly high speed over the decking. Unlike some similar bridges, this one does not produce any loose metal clanking at the joints and there is very little flange to the sound as the cars pass.
